April 7 is National Beer Day, the commemoration of the day beer became legal to sell and consume again in the waning days of Prohibition. What better way to celebrate than by going out for a beer at an Ohio craft brewery? Several brewery passport programs are launching this month in northeast Ohio if you’re looking for a little extra incentive to get out and enjoy some fresh craft beers:

  • The Summit Brew Path, one of Ohio’s longest running brewery passports, returns today. This year, the focus of the passport is squarely on Summit County breweries as surrounding counties have recently launched their own passports (more on that in a moment). In total, 23 breweries are participating in this year’s trail. Craft beer fans that complete the passport by Nov. 30 will get an invitation to the Summit Brew Path Bash on Jan. 7, 2023 and a chance to win cash prizes. Get all the details at summitbrewpath.com
  • A group of newer breweries that have put down roots south of Cleveland are organizing a week-long bar crawl from April 15-24. Visit Blue Monkey Brewing Company in North Royalton, Broadview Brewing Company in Broadview Heights, Hoppy Dude Brews in Hinckley and Schnitz Ale Brewery in Parma and get a limited edition pint glass featuring all four breweries’ logos. Marc Bona has full coverage of the crawl at cleveland.com
  • The Medina County Brewery Passport kicked off on April 1 with eight local brewery stops in the booklet this year. The first 500 people to complete the passport by July 31, 2022 will be invited to an exclusive party at Blue Heron Brewery on Aug. 21. More info at facebook.com/medinacountybrewerypassport

Don’t forget that you can earn stamps for all of the above programs at the same time you get your Ohio On Tap passport app stamps. If you haven’t yet started your Ohio On Tap journey, you can download it now for free at ohiocraftbeer.org/app
