Paws and Effect
It’s supposed to be unseasonably warm this Saturday – though not quite a dog day afternoon – for the Paws on the Patio fundraiser at Sixth Sense Brewing in Jackson. The brewery has teamed up with the Humane Society of Jackson County to help support the society’s spay/neuter clinic, pet food, cleaning supply and veterinary expenses. The event runs from noon-3 p.m. this Saturday, Nov. 5 and will be complete with some adoptable dogs, in case you’re looking to give a new furry friend their forever home. If you can’t make it to this weekend’s event, you can still help by stopping by the Sixth Sense taproom and grabbing a pint or crowler of the new Marley & Friends raspberry wheat ale: a portion of each sale will be donated to the Humane Society of Jackson County. Doing S’More for the Community
On Thursdays, Trek Brewing Company partners with Newark-area community service organizations through their Trek Together program. The local non-profits get an opportunity to interact with the community one-on-one and face-to-face, with Trek kicking in 10% of the evening’s bar sales to help with fundraising. This Thursday, Nov. 3, the brewery will host Starting Strong, a non-profit program that helps youth as they navigate the challenges of transitioning from foster care into their adult lives. In addition to the charitable focus of the evening, Trek will also be releasing a new beer, Mile 8 s’mores stout, on draft in the taproom and in cans to go.
