Columbus Craft Beer Week Presented By Giant Eagle Celebrates Columbus’ Breweries and Brewers

Columbus, Ohio—Columbus Craft Beer Week Presented by Giant Eagle returns for its third year to feature a nine-day celebration of Central Ohio’s local craft beer community from May 12-20. Columbus Craft Beer Week coincides with American Craft Beer Week, when all 50 states will be holding events including exclusive brewery tours, special beer releases, beer and food pairings, tap takeovers and more to celebrate America’s ever-advancing beer culture.

Twenty-four central Ohio breweries along with bars, restaurants and retailers will participate in Columbus Craft Beer Week by planning unique events that showcase the creative craft beers produced by small, independent breweries. The 250+ planned events range from food (including ice cream, donuts and cheese) and beer pairings, beer dinners (or lunches, or breakfasts), limited edition or specialty beer releases, tap takeovers, meet the brewer opportunities, educational seminars and other creative, educational and/or unique charitable events that celebrate the distinctive heritage, quality and future of craft beer. Visit the online events calendar to see the variety of events planned.

Columbus Craft Beer Week Presented by Giant Eagle began in 2015 with sixty-plus participating venues hosting more than 200 special events to celebrate craft beer over a nine-day span. This year, 85 locations will host the 250+ (and growing) Columbus Craft Beer Week events.
“The guiding principles of Columbus Craft Beer Week are creativity, community and collaboration – all of which abound in the craft beer industry,” said Mary MacDonald, Executive Director of the Ohio Craft Brewers Association. “The guild’s partnership with wholesale distributors, retailers and breweries enables us to create a phenomenal schedule of events and activities that highlight the best of craft beer locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.”

Central Ohio breweries are banding together to create a special collaboration beer to celebrate Craft Beer Week. DysfunctionALE, a “hoppy” pale ale, will be brewed at the Columbus Brewing Company on Saturday, April 8 with each participating brewery lending an ingredient for the final recipe. The beer will be available at a kick-off event at Giant Eagle Market District Grandview Yard on Friday, May 12, at participating establishments throughout the week and at Six One Pour: The Ohio Craft Beer Fest on Saturday, May 20 at Huntington Park.
