Even Heavier
Cheers to two years of beers from Heavy Beer Company! And what a two years it has been since opening their initial taproom in the basement of the Toledo Spirits Company. Heavy Underground, as that taproom was christened, gives an almost speakeasy feel: a windowless fortress that’s so cozy and engaging you may forget how long you’ve been there having fun.
Heavy Underground’s success – powered by a slate of meticulously crafted beers – spawned a second location last spring, the Heavy Wheelhouse at Oak Openings Metropark in Swanton. The polar opposite vibe to Heavy Underground, the Wheelhouse embraces an open-air feel in its lush natural surroundings.
As they pass the two year mark, Heavy shows no signs of slowing. Their next project, Heavy Village, is a complete refit of a 60,000 square foot industrial building on the Adams Street corridor in downtown Toledo. Heavy Village will feature not only an expansive production brewery and taproom, but also the city’s largest rooftop patio and bar, as well as a food hall and retail shopping area populated by local businesses.
Celebrate two years of beers with Heavy today, Thursday, May 4, from 4-10 p.m. at either of their taproom locations. Pints of Heavy beer – including their recently released Heavy IPA – are just $5 each. Get more info at facebook.com/heavybeerco
