There aren’t many brewery owners who put their own picture or likeness on the labels of their beer, but there aren’t many brewery owners like Kha Bui. After cementing a reputation as proprietor of one of Ohio’s premier craft beer destinations, Small City Taphouse in Sandusky, Bui transformed an adjoining space to build CLAG Brewing in 2020. Over the course of a year and a half, CLAG has built a loyal following on a foundation of haze, regularly issuing some of the most sought after IPAs in the state. With that kind of track record, why not put your face on the can?

But Kha isn’t the only Bui to grace a CLAG beer label. Kha’s parents have their own beers named after them: Mama Bui triple IPA and Papa Bui double IPA. While both have been available on tap dating back to CLAG’s grand opening, Mama Bui and Papa Bui are now released in cans just once a year on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, respectively. Father’s Day is this weekend (I know some of you just nervously checked your calendar), which means CLAG will release Papa Bui this Saturday, June 18 at noon. As an added bonus, the brewery will also release a special run of Mama Bui at the same time. Release details at facebook.com/clagbrewing
