Retail Manager/Marketing Associate

PURPOSE: To be responsible for leading all aspects of our gift shop business located within our Beer Hall. The Retail Manager will oversee and coordinate customer service, merchandising, inventory control and staffing for our gift shop. This role will also have a secondary Marketing purpose to help support our brand.


  • Coordinate daily gift shop operations
    • Identify staffing needs, interview and hire qualified staff, and set work schedules
    • Provide ongoing positive and disciplinary performance management
    • Train new and current employees on proper company policies and customer service practices
    • Organize and supervise shifts
    • Assist with the development and implementation of operating budgets, policies and procedures
    • Monitor sales, resolve discrepancies, prepares, reconciles and records receipts for deposit and prepares sales reports
    • Oversees inventory stock and visual merchandising for the gift shop and sales/marketing department
    • Order new and low inventory merchandise and sales marketing items and assist with the design of new merchandise
    • Develop and implement on-floor sales promotion campaigns
    • Conduct opening and closing procedures (count drawers, run checkout reports)
    • Perform computerized cash register sales transactions, cash management and customer service as required
    • Investigate and respond efficiently and accurately to customer complaints
    • Maintain professional image by ensuring gift shop cleanliness, proper uniform and appearance standards
    • Assist Marketing Manager with overall Marketing strategy
    • Manage donation request while adhering to a donation budget
  • Safety
    • Attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers’ excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking, or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated persons
    • Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations
    • Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents. Collect and complete accident reports for guest or employee incident
    • Attend all required Safety training
    • Exceed safety standards during daily operations

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; will accept relevant work experience in place of education
  • Prior restaurant management experience required
  • Knowledge of cash management principles/procedures
  • Knowledge of mathematics
  • Previous experience with retail stock management and inventory control preferred
  • Knowledge of computers (Word, Excel, POS system ALOHA)
  • Flexibility to work shifts (day, night, weekends, holidays)
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and independently
  • Obsessive attention to detail and record keeping
  • Focus on customer satisfaction
  • Innovative, ambitious, driven yet caring and dedicated

  • Work is primarily performed in the gift shop of our Beer Hall. This job operates a touch screen computer, cash register, and a variety of office equipment. The gift shop is housed within the production brewery so the employee may be exposed to temperature changes, wet or humid conditions, noise, vibrations, and other brew production related hazards when in the brew production and storage areas.
  • Limited travel to local events, bank, post office or other suppliers may be required.
  • Nights and weekend work will be required.
