FRETBOARD GENERAL MANAGER

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Taproom General Manager is responsible for managing operations of Fretboard Brewing Company’s respective taproom, including the development and performance management of employees in upholding the image and overall product quality of Fretboard Brewing Company. In addition, they oversee the inventory and ordering of necessary supplies, optimize profits and ensure that guests are satisfied with their taproom experience. As a Taproom General Manager, you will:

  • Serve as a brand ambassador with a presence that helps ensure every customer receives an excellent experience that compels them to return
  • Keep immediate supervisor fully informed of all problems or matters requiring attention
  • Oversee that all team members are fulfilling their job duties
  • Recruit, interview, hire, develop and retain employees for taproom
  • Welcome new hires and ensure they receive timely and sufficient training that sets them up for success
  • Event coordination and Execution Planning
  • Manage operational coverage, workload and resource distribution
  • Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations
  • Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy
  • Work with Director of Operations to develop and implement budget in accordance with short- and long-term company goals
  • Oversee and maintain efforts to ensure service standards, food and beverage quality, and guest service quality are consistently met and exceeded
  • Conduct a smooth opening, transfer of shifts and/or closing that makes sure the taprooms continually serve customers at our standards from open to close
  • Maintain inventory control procedures
  • Identify any repair needs or ongoing scheduling challenges and seek solutions
  • Achieve rotating departmental objectives, which may include:
    Facilities, beverage and service, Conducting inspections and/or interviews
    Forecasting sales and creating weekly schedules to support business, Safety inspections
  • Have a strong understanding of Fretboard Brewing Company’s products, offerings and events
  • Increase the level of customer satisfaction by delivery of an improved product through employee development, job-specific training and quality of product
  • Help staff address difficult circumstances and minimize stress in a busy environment
  • Accountable for coaching staff in solving guest relations matters and concerns
  • Manage in compliance with established company policies and procedures and in compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations
  • Maintain procedures for security of monies and maintain procedures for credit control and handling of financial transactions
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Beverages – R&D and quality control
  • Reporting (tracking item level sales)
  • Training (new bartenders & staff)
  • Clear understanding of POS
  • Create and maintain SOPs
  • Scheduling
  • Payroll (tips & wages)
  • Operational Procedure Development (Daily, weekly, & monthly)
  • Brand building/event
  • Delegation of day-to-day tasks

  • Main point of communication (weekly standups)

  • Catering register rings & tip outs
  • Maintaining petty cash & change banks
  • POS management (menu changes, new inventory, etc.)

  • Glassware Ordering
  • Merchandise Ordering (existing reorders & new products)
  • Weekly Communication with staff
  • Managing the shift leads
  • Hiring/Firing

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 4 years of consistent experience as a manager/general manager in bar/restaurant industry. Prior experience in the food service industry is essential, and you must have effective communication, organizational, and customer service skills to thrive in this career.
  • Strong understanding of bar/restaurant operations and financial metrics
  • Prior experience with accounting software, POS systems, payroll / HRIS systems
  • Understanding of bar/restaurant marketing efforts and execution, with experience in creating/implementing incentive programs, generating sales and marketing services
  • Success in leadership and personal management
  • Service and teamwork focused mindset
  • Collaborative, positive approach to relationship building
  • Knowledgeable in industry best practices and food safety & sanitation practices
  • Good longevity at current and past positions
  • At least 21 years of age

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and remain standing for extended periods of time
  • Operate hand-held appliances and kitchen/bar equipment
  • Able to go up and down stairs
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, rotating between front and back of house. This requires walking, bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing and pulling to handle or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • The ability to communicate and exchange information with coworkers and others is also required.
  • The ability to comply with all public health requirements.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • High noise levels due to operations, customers and overhead audio/visual noise
  • Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays and extended hours as business dictates
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Indoor/outside seating
