The Computer/Helpdesk intern will diagnose, repair and install computer hardware and software under the supervision of the current IT Team. He/she will assist in resolving help desk tickets, educate users on new equipment and software packages, and provide excellent support to end users.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair desktops and laptops
  • Perform tasks such as hardware and software¬† installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of computers
  • Manually examine and repair computer hardware and peripheral components
  • Take apart and re-assemble computer components and parts
  • Monitor the system for equipment failure or errors in performance and notify supervisor of equipment malfunctions
  • Provide 1st Level Helpdesk support
  • Respond to program error messages by finding and correcting problems or terminating the program per operating procedures or under direction of the supervisor
  • Utilize the Help Center to record information such as computer operating time, problems that occurred, and actions taken
  • Support Mobile and wireless devices
  • Maintain general office equipment and electronics
  • Responsible for proper cleaning & upkeep of hardware and software
  • Assist with servicing, maintaining and installing new Cat. 6 cabling
  • Help maintain asset and inventory lists
  • Assist with in-house training program
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Experience:

Education
In-process or completed degree in Computer Science or relevant technical degree required

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant computer repair experience required
  • Working knowledge of various computer models such as Microsoft, Dell, HP, and Apple
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs
  • Proficiency in Windows 10 and Windows Server 2012
  • Ability to effectively conduct utilize research
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability maintain confidentiality of sensitive documents and information

Licensure/Certification
A+ Certification or relative equivalence
