POSITION SUMMARY: The Programming Specialist works on the Consumer Experience team to assist with developing event concepts and is accountable for managing and executing a wide variety of consumer-facing event programming. Events are singular and recurring in nature in a Taproom environment and at off-site locations. They will be an avid MadTree ambassador who lives the behaviors – Connect, Grow, and Give a F*ck. Additionally, the Programming Specialist will:
Execute work assignments with a strong attention to the details and specifics.
Operate in an environment with some ambiguity and is comfortable making risk decisions without a need for excessive guidance, rules, and micro-management.
Operate with an outgoing, persuasive, and motivational interpersonal style to influence key stakeholders both internally and externally.
KEY PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES IN ORDER OF PRIORITY AND PROJECTED TIME ALLOCATION:
45% – Accountable for the complete lifecycle of all events, from pre-planning to post event evaluation, including developing budget, revenue, and profitability forecasts and ensuring all targets are met.
35% – Develops, facilitates, and maintains highly collaborative and functional relationships with internal and external key stakeholders with clear and effective communication that motivates other members of the team to meet objectives.
10% – Serves as the main point of contact for all programming, working closely with the Director of Consumer Experience and other MadTree team members.
Note: Ten percent of time is reserved for ancillary responsibilities and activities unrelated to the key performance objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage all aspects of event execution, including pre-planning, resourcing, pre-event marketing in collaboration with the marketing team, on-site coordination day-of, and post event follow up.
Complete post-event evaluations to determine how well results were achieved and identify any opportunities for improvement.
Simultaneously manage a variety of short, medium, and long-term plans to ensure key milestones are achieved.
Execute events on-time, on-budget, and on-brand to achieve revenue, profitability, and consumer experience targets.
Manage event supply budget and inventory.
Assist with site selection, vendor selection, and negotiating with third-party vendors.
Develop effective and collaborative relationships with taproom, private events, marketing, and other internal key stakeholders; clearly communicate with and motivate event team members on a proactive basis.
Develop effective and collaborative relationships with key external stakeholders and third-party vendors.
Work closely with Consumer Experience (CX) Director to develop ideas for programming as it relates to CX and execute those program initiatives.
Supervise staff at events, assign duties, and provide general direction; serves as lead point of contact.
Enthusiastically spends a minimum of 16 hours per year volunteering for MadTree Impact initiatives.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform essential duties, accountabilities, and responsibilities satisfactorily. Bachelor’s degree in the Event Planning, Hospitality, Entertainment or related field or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in event planning, event production, or event management.
IMPORTANT SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must have strong customer service skills, organization skills, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
Must be reliable and timely in attendance and have a flexible schedule.
Must have regular open evening/weekend availability to work regular shifts in excess of 8 hours and overtime.
The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and independent without constant supervision is required
Attention to detail, ability to work unsupervised while maintaining safety and quality standards, and confidence to speak up and act when safety and/or quality are compromised.
Comfort with multitasking and maintaining efficiency and productivity.
Effective and frequent communication with manager and support staff, regardless of department or shift.
Ability and willingness to adhere to and advance protocol in a diverse work environment.
Proficient in Google and/or Microsoft Office suites.
Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and climb.
Ability to frequently talk, hear, and smell.
Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms. Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
