Director of National Accounts

The Director of National Accounts will manage sales planning and performance for chain accounts in existing and expansion markets for Rhinegeist. The position will manage & train existing and potential future key account managers on the team as well as a chain account execution manager. In collaboration with the CCO, the Director will help create the strategy for selling to and supporting our chain business. In this role critical thinking and organizational skills are paramount. The Director of National Accounts will need to show strong leadership, decision making, and troubleshooting skills. The role will be a combination of office hours and time in the field.  Collaboration with the field sales team & self-distribution team is also a critical skill set.

Essential Functions:

  • Create, own, and track tactical and T & E  budgets for the chain sales organization
  • Collaborate with the CCO on the development and execution of the annual business plan
  • Create and own top-level projections for the chain business
  • Work with the team to develop chain-level strategies for new brand introductions and focus brands
  • Create, adjust, and train chain sales team best practices
  • Create and track quarterly chain sales team at-risk targets in conjunction with company goals and sales team areas of focus
  • Conduct 1:1 meetings with direct reports
  • Work with direct reports to formulate actionable plans to address gaps to the overall sales plan
  • Roll-up and present monthly sales performance, gap analysis, market needs, and feedback to the CCO
  • Interface with key wholesaler leadership to ensure proper mindshare, programming, and chain sales team support for Rhinegeist brands
  • Align portfolio offerings and innovation to meet market-specific needs
  • Review and adjust pricing structures as needed to align with the market competitors, while meeting brewery and wholesaler financial goals
  • Work in conjunction with internal departments to present industry data/trends that drive annual brewery innovation and create effective channel programming
  • Ensure program execution of all National Account priorities
  • Lead team meetings and communications around sales performance, identified opportunities, brewery releases, production updates, and marketing programs

General Considerations:

  • Proven sales experience, ideally in beer
  • Minimum 5 years experience managing direct reports
  • Preferred experience calling on National Accounts
  • High level of knowledge of IRI or Nielsen, VIP, and Google Suites
  • Experience and competence with Microsoft office suite and deep analytical skill set
  • Excellent communication and time management skills and a palpable love for craft beer
