We are currently hiring a Blend Technician in our Cincinnati Brewery.

Initially, this person will be responsible for understanding the Base Alcohol fermentation and Hard Cider, Tea, and Seltzer blending processes. Upon completing the training, the successful candidate will be responsible for the daily operation and quality of BBC products within the Blend Department.

What You’ll Do:

  •  Must observe and practice all Brewery Safety Procedures. Includes wearing the proper PPE throughout the Brewery.
  • Must be able to work in and promote a team-oriented and “Safety First” environment. Safely, efficiently and effectively work to attain brewery goals and objectives.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with all team peers as well as be responsible for the
  • Base Alcohol and Blend Product Sensory evaluation in coordination with Sensory lead
  • Work autonomously in the Base Alcohol and Blend operations, which includes Base Alcohol fermentations, Base Alcohol processing, and loadout, ISEP Operations, and blending of final Tea, Cider, and Seltzer product lines
  • General – Communicate and coordinate to ensure the proper receipt, storage, and use of specified materials for addition into the Base Alcohol and Blend production. This includes adequate inventory management in terms of storage guidelines and on-hand inventory
  • Base Alcohol fermentations – build successful in-spec fermentations utilizing necessary specified materials. Monitor and maintain the fermentation to deliver an in-spec product. Ensure fermentation cycles follow established temperature profiles per recipe. Communicate and document changes in process parameters and raw materials
  • Base Alcohol Processing – Coordinate the processing of Base Alcohol through centrifuge and filtration operations. This will also include Base Alcohol loadout, data management, and general communication with customers
  • ISEP Operations – Deliver 100% in-spec product from the ISEP to storage tanks for shipment to contract partners and use for mixing of final Blend products
  • Batch Blending of Hard Cider, Tea, and Seltzer products – Deliver 100% in-spec product on time to meet the production schedules by following the batch sheet and procedures correctly
  • In-Line Blending – coordinate with the production schedule to deliver 100% in-spec product on time by following batch sheets and procedures correctly and utilizing an In-Line Blending and Pre-Blend Tote system to feed the packaging line

What We’re Looking For:

  •  High School Diploma
  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred. Formal education in Brewing Science, Food Science, and Technology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or Engineering is a plus.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ brewing experience in the brewing/manufacturing industry.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to collaborate in a successful self-directed workforce
  • She has a proven ability to manage production needs and projects concurrently.
  • Ability to work with all levels of management in multi-functional departments.
  • Ability to be flexible and shift priorities in a constantly changing, fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to impact and affect positive change with a flexible, open-minded, positive approach
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Access.
  • Highly effective multi-tasker; resourceful with a “get-it-done, can-do” attitude.
  • Proven conflict resolution and problem-solving skills; be able to think through relatively complex issues and arrive at well-thought conclusions.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills.
