The Brewery System Controls Specialist will be part of the team responsible for supporting all facets of the Level 2 (SCADA & HMI) and assisting with Level 1 (PLCs and Devices) at BBCs Cincinnati brewery. This position will report to the Sr. Brewery Systems Manager. The Brewery System Controls Specialist will work closely with other elements of the IT department, and the Engineering and Operations groups to drive standards and identify, evaluate, and implement solutions that leverage BBC’s chosen automation technologies to meet the needs of the business.

What You’ll Do:

  • Daily monitoring and oversight of the process control network at the SAPB brewery
  • Support the infrastructure (Virtualization, Hardware, Software and Network) for automation systems (level 2) as well as PLCs and field devices (Level 1)
  • Implement and enforce security standards and controls: (Access, Virus Protection, etc)
  • Participate as team member on all automation projects to provide guidance and insight
  • Research, develop and provide tools for SAPB’s Level 1 technicians to allow more effective troubleshooting and issue resolution
  • Act as a primary contact with integrators and automation system vendors
  • Act as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for our process network configuration, PLCs and field devices
  • Ability to provide first and second-tier technical and desk side support for desktops, laptops, peripherals and related software at the breweries (Primarily business systems but may include process systems as necessary). This includes initial setup for users and troubleshooting hardware/software issues
  • Participate in the development & maintenance of standards related to automation systems, PLCs and field devices in line with the Brewery Systems PMO, BBC Operations and Engineering
  • Participate in the development & implementation of strategies for upgrade, expansion, continuous improvement, life cycle, and preventive maintenance of the automation systems, PLCs and field devices at the SAPB brewery
  • Participate in the development and enforcement of change control processes and compliance monitoring for these processes

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or other computer / engineering related degree or equivalent experience
  • CCNA preferred (Focus on switching and routing)
  • 5+ years automation systems experience including PLCs, field devices, SCADA systems and HMIs
  • 3+ years data networking and computer systems experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of data networks, specifically those in a plant automation setting
  • Extensive demonstrated experience and ability with:
    • Allen-Bradley and Modicon PLCs
    • Cisco Network Hardware
    • HMI and SCADA systems
  • Ability to interact and work with all levels within the organization
  • Strong troubleshooting skills – applicant must be able to determine the causes of complex problems and recommend practical and effective solutions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with Wonderware preferred
  • Experience with automation systems in a Food and Beverage environment a plus
  • Experience with development languages and tools a plus
  • Experience with SQLServer Databases a plus
  • Experience with scripting/development languages and tools a plus
  • Exposure to the following technologies:
    • Cisco Network Hardware
    • VMWare Virtualization technology
    • SAN infrastructures
