Job Title: Director of Brewing Operations
Department: Production
Reports to: Chief Operations Officer
Job Summary:
Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer, the Director of Operations will be responsible for the daily technical support of the Production team, including brewhouse, cellar, packaging, warehouse, microbiology lab, sensory lab, barrel aging and sour program. This role requires strong communication skills along with a strong teamwork mindset, positive attitude, and deep knowledge of the entire brewing process. The position will have a focus on continued growth and overall quality assurance and will work directly with the COO and other department team leads.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Support process development along with developing and updating forever evolving SOPs
- Enforce and adhere to all GMP’s and PPE requirements
- Manage inventory
- Produce personnel weekly schedule
- Maintain high team morale along with a positive culture
- Lead brewing team by managing personnel issues including ensuring accountability using individual check-in meetings, performance reviews, conflict resolution, etc.
- Support department leads to ensure proper communication and product information is accurate
- Support growth, efficiency, and improvement of the production team
- Problem solving and decision-making support with all brewing teams daily
- Attend necessary trainings, meetings, and other events.
- Physically manage and execute necessary weekly tasks on both hot and cold side of production
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Special Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Brewing: 5 years working with 5,000 + annual BBL production
- Management: 2 years
- Familiar with microbiology processes
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree or Certificate from accredited brewing science school preferred
- Mechanical aptitude is preferred
- Provide basic troubleshooting skills in a brewing setting
- Excellent organizational skills, time management and attention to detail
- Ability to function in a high-paced environment
- Experience with Ekos (Preferred)
- Ability to work unusual hours, including weekdays, week nights and weekends
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 55lbs and move 165lbs, as needed
- Must have the ability to regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach, climb, and work in small and confined spaces
- Ability to work safely in small spaces, loud environments, climb stairs, ramps, and ladders
- Must work safely around chemicals
