Making a Splash 10 Years In

Cheers to 10 years of beers from Findlay Brewing Company! The big celebration starts this Saturday, August 5 at 11 a.m. at the brewery taproom in downtown Findlay. The beer list for the event is packed with fan favorites from the past decade as well as a handful of new brews, including Anniversary X Gose, a tart watermelon ale with a hint of sea salt, the perfect refreshment on a warm, Ohio summer day.

Almost as refreshing as being dropped into a vat of cold water, I’m guessing… let’s put that to the test as I’ll be in Findlay Brewing’s charity dunk tank from noon – 1 p.m. Chances to dunk me, the owners of Findlay Brewing and other community partners throughout the day will run you $1 per throw, with all proceeds going to the Alzheimer’s Association. More details on Saturday’s festivities are available at findlaybrewing.com

Where There’s Smoke, There’s Fire

Twenty local breweries will be on hand for one of the area’s best craft beer events, the annual Northwest Ohio Brew-B-Que hosted by 4KD Crick Brewery in Defiance. $40 gets you a dozen 4-ounce samples of the amazing beers on tap, plus access to a tasty buffet of barbecue delights. Chat up the brewers, listen to some live music, and even stop by the Brewers Freedom Alliance table – I’ll be there, possibly still wet from the dunk tank in Findlay – to talk about the need for fair craft beer distribution in Ohio (and get some free swag in the process.) See you this Saturday, August 5 from 4-8 p.m. Tickets available in advance at 4kdcrickbrewery.com

The new beer, a light, approachable ale clocking in at 4.7% ABV, will be officially unveiled at Juniper’s downtown Bowling Green brewpub at 5 p.m. this Thursday. The release event will also include the reveal of the winner of the can design contest for future packaging of Ale Ziggy Zoomba. In addition to being on tap at the brewery, Ale Ziggy Zoomba will also be available at BGSU Falcon football, basketball and hockey games during the 2023-2024 season.
