CENTRAL
After taking four years of German in high school, I can attest that there’s no humor to be found in the Americanization of the demonym for a resident of Vienna. So, if you enjoy cold beers and encased meats – and you’re mature enough – you’ll have a great time at Actual Brewing’s Wienerfest on Saturday, Oct. 6. Bring your well-behaved dachshund, have a hot dog or veggie dog and wash it down with a crispy fall lager. The fun starts at noon at Actual’s east Columbus taproom. If you adore pumpkin beers, you’ll want to rocket out to Pickerington today or tonight, tonight. Combustion Brewery tapped Siamese Dream Pumpkin Ale and Shakedown 1979 Pumpkin Stout earlier this week, both brewed with fall spices to soothe and disarm. On draft now, give them a try, try, try…
This week, Restoration Brew Worx tapped Black Mountain, a Black IPA created by Eric Yousey, which recently won a Delaware, Ohio Homebrewers (DOH) competition for beers using only Cascade hops. This hop forward, dry, black IPA is available on draft at Restoration’s Delaware brewpub for a limited time. Details at facebook.com/rbwrx

Autumn fully descends upon the Butcher & the Brewer in downtown Cleveland this week. Stop by for a pint of Sugaree’s Pumpkin Pie, a lactose-driven sweet stout that gets a big dose of spice, pumpkin, graham crackers and vanilla for a fall-inspired treat. This year’s Fernway Harvest has also made an appearance, a hoppy black ale brewed with fresh Chinook, Northern Brewer, Centennial and Lieber hops for bright citrus and pine notes.
Willoughby Brewing tapped their Kellerfest lager earlier this week. This unfiltered German lager is malty with just a touch of noble hops in the finish and weighs in at 6.9% ABV. Kellerfest won a Silver Medal at this year‘s Berea Oktoberfest competition. Available on draft for a limited time.
