CENTRAL 

Commonhouse Ales has released their new year-round flagship beer, IPA For The People, to Central Ohio retailers this week. Back in November, Commonhouse held a public taste test of three IPA recipes (labeled “C,” “M” and “H” for the Columbus airport code) at Smokehouse Brewing Company. Version “H” was selected by the community to become IPA For The People.

Zaftig Brewing Co. in Worthington will tap their bourbon barrel-aged Big Barleywine this Saturday, Feb. 10. Flavored with Target and Fuggle hops, this American-style barleywine has come of age and is ready to tantalize your taste buds.

Great beers for a great cause… Combustion Brewery in Pickerington is hosting a fundraiser for Franklin County Special Olympics on Saturday, Feb. 24. Combustion has teamed up with Columbus Brewing Company, Wolf’s Ridge Brewing and Braxton Brewing Company to offer some unique samples and support the nine athletes, partners and coaches traveling to and competing in the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games in Seattle.

GREATER CLEVELAND 

In addition to their new line of cans, Market Garden Brewery has announced plans for a barrel-aging program at their production brewery in Ohio City. Goldhorn Brewery is celebrating Kurentovanje – Slovenian Mardi Gras – with a special beer release. They’ll release Evil Spirits, a Schwarzbier brewed specifically for the festival, Friday at the taproom on E. 55th St. The Chardon Polka Band will perform from 6-10 p.m. to help chase away winter and usher in spring.

Welcome Boss Dog Brewing to the Ohio Craft Brewers Association! Brothers Josh and Jason Sweet opened the Cleveland Heights brewery last November. Stop in, grab a pint of Chief Chinook or Dog Pound Brown and get your passport stamp on the Ohio On Tap app!

NORTHEAST

Shale Brewing Company is on the move. After setting up their production brewery in downtown Canton just last year, Shale’s Head of Brewing Operations, Jason Gasper-Hulvat, confirmed plans to move to a new space in North Canton. According to the story posted by Northeast Ohio Craft Brewery News, Shale’s new facility will include a taproom, a first for the brewery.

Royal Docks Brewing Company is set to roll out cans into Columbus, Cincinnati and Dayton starting Monday, Feb. 12. They’ll look to make inroads in these new markets in advance of the opening of their new production brewery in North Canton, slated to go online in late March or early April.

Maize Valley Brewery released Denaliism this week, a single-hop pale ale with a unique flavor and aroma profile of light pineapple and citrus pith. On tap now at the Hartville brewery and at select accounts around Northeast Ohio.

NORTHWEST

Bowling Green Beer Works hosts a monthly book club meeting… where all the books are about beer! The next meeting is Tuesday, Feb. 13 to discuss Strange Tales of Ale by Martyn Cornell. You’d be nuts to miss Peanut Butter Week at Earnest Brew Works in South Toledo. In addition to the peanut butter beers on tap, 22 ounce bomber bottles of PB Worker’s Porter will be available for sale in the taproom and peanut butter flavored firkins will be tapped daily from Feb. 21-24.

SOUTHEAST

Licking County has become a bit of a craft beer hotbed of late, with seven operating craft breweries and two more in planning. In the upcoming weeks, representatives of all the county’s breweries will mash in on a collaboration brew to be released during Tasty Buns & Craft Beer Week, March 24-31. Jackie O’s is releasing two new blended beers in bottles this weekend at the brewery taproom in Athens. Polycephaly III is a blend of bourbon barrel aged imperial maple porter with both brandy barrel and vanilla cinnamon whiskey barrel aged imperial stout. Polycephaly IV is a fusion of three mixed fermentation saisons, all aged in either used wine barrels or their custom foudre. Bottle sales start at 11 a.m. Friday Feb. 9 and continue on Saturday. Looking for some unique brews this weekend? Check out the Third Annual Super Firkin Saturday at the Christian Moerlein Malt House taproom in Over-The-Rhine. In addition to Christian Moerlein’s contributions, you can sample the contents of firkins from MadTree Brewing, Fifty West, Mt. Municipal Brew Works in Hamilton is releasing their first-ever barrel aged beer on Saturday, Feb. 17. Long Slumber Old Ale was housed in bourbon barrels for six months and then aged an additional six months. The brewery is offering the barrel aged and original versions together as a pair of 22 ounce bombers. Bottle sales begin at noon.

WEST CENTRAL

Ohio’s only co-op brewery, Fifth Street Brewpub in Dayton has a new look. The new logo depicts a hand holding barley; the hand signifying the brewery’s commitment to community-building. The barley, you guessed it, means there’s beer here! Speaking of beer, Fifth Street Brewpub just released bottles of Fifth Date, a 6.5% ABV stout brewed with lactose, fermented with cherry, and conditioned with chocolate. The perfect Valentine’s Day gift for your significant beer-loving other…

Warped Wing Brewing is releasing bottles of Pirogue – their Belgian-style Tripel brewed with coffee – this Saturday, Feb. 10 at noon in their downtown Dayton taproom.
