Look for Se7en Hefeweizen from Christian Moerlein Brewing Co. on retail store shelves starting today. The beer takes its name from the seven hills of Cincinnati, the seven heavenly virtues and the seven deadly sins. This Bavarian-style wheat beer is driven by yeast-derived banana and clove flavors with a dry, tart finish from its balanced hop character. Draft and six-packs available at the Malt House taproom in Over-the-Rhine.
As it seems the Ohio winter is finally breaking, Brink Brewing Company is breaking out their new Tropical Wheat beer. Brewed with the same malt bill as their original wheat, this perfect-for-summer version is infused with blackberry, mango and pineapple. Available on draft at their brewery taproom in College Hill.
There ain’t no cure for the summertime brews: Municipal Brew Works in Hamilton released their Walk in the Park pilsner this week. And now for something completely different… Lock 27 Brewing has released their new IPA, Zero IBU, to the astonishment of traditional hopheads. This unique IPA was brewed by adding heaps of Mosaic and Azacca hops during the whirlpool and dry hopping process instead of during the boil. The resulting beer presents intense hop aromatics, tropical fruit flavors and a soft, pillowy mouthfeel, but no taste of bitterness. Try it for yourself at either Lock 27 location (Dayton or Centerville).
