Happy fifth anniversary to Seventh Son Brewing Company in Columbus! The Italian Village brewery has grown so much in the last five years, as evidenced by the brand new production facility built onto the back of the original brewery and taproom. Land-Grant Brewing’s Sun-Grant Sustainability Fair is this Saturday, April 21 at the brewery in Franklinton. The Beers and Board Games Club of Columbus will hold their fourth annual International Tabletop Day celebration and fundraiser on Saturday, April 28 at BrewDog’s DogTap Columbus in Canal Winchester. Case Western Reserve University, home to Ohio’s only licensed on-campus brewery, The Jolly Scholar, will offer a Chemistry of Fermentation and Brewing course this summer. Taught by Dr. Michael Zagorski, the course includes in-depth discussions of the chemistry underlying either an aspect of the brewing process or a style of beer. Students will take field trips to The Jolly Scholar to see practical applications of the science taught in the course. Check your chemistry pre-requisites before enrolling at case.edu
Catch the dual can release at Masthead Brewing Co. downtown on Saturday, April 21. Fruit Blood Double Smoothie NEIPA was brewed with mango, pink guava and lactose, along with a healthy dry-hop addition. Youngstown’s Noble Creature Cask House will tap Harvester of Hollows, a paw paw sour on Saturday, April 21. This beer is a tart, funky, fruity sour brown beer comprised of a blend of their barrel aged Nergalette, Chelsette and dark wild beer fermented with local microbes and aged on 20 pounds of local paw paw fruit. Fresh off a people’s choice award for their Rauch and Roll Smoked Helles at the Rubber City Beer Fest last weekend, Paradigm Shift Brewing has more tricks up their sleeve this week. Sonic Boom is their new Belgian Quad, a dark fruit and malt monster clocking in at 11.2% ABV. Available at the brewery in downtown Massillon.
Uniontown Brewing Company will donate $1 from each pint of 1386 Amber Ale sold on Saturday, April 21 to the Ashland Professional Fire Fighters Local 1386 47th Annual Pancake Day fundraiser. Have breakfast at the Ashland Central Fire Station, then slide over to Uniontown for a couple of pints to further help the cause. IAFF Local 1386 donates the proceeds of the fundraiser to multiple Ashland County charities.

It’s Crunchy Hippie week at Earnest Brew Works in south Toledo. The peanut butter version of their granola brown ale will be on tap all week long with special firkins available through the weekend. The “dank” dry-hopped version of Crunchy Hippie will tap on 4/20 (naturally) while a s’mores version will be available on Saturday.
Former Pro-Bowl punter Brandon Fields officially retired this week as the Miami Dolphins all-time leader in punting yardage. Now, Fields and former NFL lineman Chris Morris are ready to kick out some tasty craft beers at Inside the Five Brewing in Sylvania. Inside the Five (like, the five-yard line, get it?) announced that they will open the doors of their new brewpub over Memorial Day weekend.

To celebrate Record Store Day, Jackie O’s will drop a couple of new beers on Saturday, April 21: Orange Crates, an Orval-inspired Belgian blonde collaboration with The Answer Brewpub from Richmond, Virginia, and Woodburner, an Imperial smoked stout aged in bourbon barrels. Three Tigers Brewing has been partying all week for the second anniversary of their Granville brewpub. On Wednesday, they tapped their Cinnamon Raisin French Toast Imperial Milk Stout, brewed with caramelized raisins, vanilla beans and cinnamon. Today, they’re releasing their anniversary Double IPA, Spicoli’s Van, brewed with hemp flour, rice and fermented with sake yeast. Rest assured, there will be a birthday party for you here…

MadTree Brewing is celebrating Arbor Day this year by giving away tree saplings when you purchase one of their beers at select retailers throughout Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. A kickoff party will be held at the MadTree taproom on Wednesday, April 25 at 4 p.m. and will feature the Drink Trees pale ale brewed especially for the Arbor Day events.
