Overcoming the Odds

Today is International Women’s Day – check out our list of brewery events commemorating the occasion here – but women’s health is an issue 365 days a year. With that in mind, Cincinnati’s HighGrain Brewing is hosting a beer release this Friday, March 10 that doubles as a breast cancer prevention event and fundraiser.

CLS Farms, a Washington state hop grower, started the One in Eight campaign in 2018, named for the incidence of breast cancer in American women. Since then, more than 1,000 commercial and home brewers have made a beer as part of the One in Eight fundraising program. This Friday at noon, HighGrain will release 1-in-8 hoppy lager on tap and in cans from their taproom in Silverton. Ten percent of the beer’s sales will be donated to Pink Ribbon Good, an Ohio-based non-profit that provides support to women diagnosed with breast or gynecological cancers. HighGrain will also donate 10 percent of all sales on Friday, March 10 to Pink Ribbon Good.

In addition to the beer release and fundraising push, HighGrain will also host TriHealth’s mobile mammography van onsite from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on March 10. To schedule a mammogram, click here. For more information about the day’s events, visit facebook.com/highgrainbrewing
