Ring the Bell
For people battling cancer, reaching milestones in treatment are momentous occasions. Whether it’s an encouraging scan result, a completion of a phase of treatment, or even something as simple as celebrating a birthday, those positive moments have been traditionally marked with the ringing of a bell, a small, symbolic gesture to commemorate a big accomplishment.
Fifteen years ago, central Ohioans started Pelotonia, a day-long bike ride to raise funds for cancer research. The annual event has generated more than $267 million in donations to support innovative cancer treatments since its inception in 2008. Spectators line the 101-mile route ringing bells to cheer on the riders who have raised money to support the cause.
This Sunday, June 23, Granville’s Three Tigers Brewing will release Ring the Bells, a Kölsch-style ale, to support the Pelotonia fundraising efforts of Team Granville Spokesmen. This two dozen member team has raised more than $50,000 for cancer research in the 2023 cycle, and more than $1.3 million in 13 years of Pelotonia rides: more than enough to deserve their own signature beer.
