What’s New at R. Shea?

If you haven’t visited R. Shea Brewing‘s vast and impressive brewery and taproom in Akron’s Canal Place, you probably owe it to yourself to check it out again. The brewery collected an immense amount of customer feedback after their initial opening in 2019 and their slow re-opening after the COVID pandemic shutdown. The improvements brought about from those customer suggestions have been rolled out over time, to the point where the taproom experience is improved enough that R. Shea is planning a grand re-opening starting Tuesday, March 21. We could run through everything here – regularly scheduled beer releases, more entertainment, tours of the brewery floor, new games, acoustic treatment, etc., etc. – but owner Ron Shea lays it out better than we ever could if you’ve got four minutes to listen.

In addition to all of the facility and experience improvements, R. Shea continues to roll out new beers, putting their extensive brewery capacity to its best use. The second beer in the Akroner series is the brewery’s first canned lager: the newly-released Bohemian Pils aims to be a full-flavored alternative to the ubiquitous American macro lager. Listen to brewers Kyle and Carl walk you through the new beer and the history of the Bohemian/Czech lager style at R. Shea’s YouTube channel.
